About James

As a VP of Cliffco Mortgage Brokers, James both originates loans and manages a team of loan officers and loan officer assistants. His other responsibilities include marketing and brand awareness, recruiting loan officers for Cliffco and his team, and most importantly, helping clients secure the right loan for their unique needs.

A veteran Loan Officer since 2003, James enjoyed success early on in the industry as Rookie of the Year for Preferred Empire Mortgage, owned by Douglas Elliman. At DE Capital, JV (Joint Venture) with Wells Fargo, he was their top CRA loan officer for Queens County, NY for many consecutive years, and consistently ranked the Top 5 Loan Officer within the company in volume and units the last four.

James next moved to Citizens Bank where he spent eight years, and seven of which, was in the President’s Club, ranking #1 for 2021 and 2022. He was also part of Citizens’ Circle of Excellence for seven years representing the top 3% of sales within the firm. He earned consistent placement in the Top 10 Loan Officers within the bank, and for his last five years there, was in the Top 3 of Citizens’ 500+ loan officers companywide. James also received recognition from AREAA: Asian Real Estate Association, the past five years as a Top 10 Asian American Loan Officer within the Asian community. He is a member of AREAA, and was part of their mortgage task force; plus he’s a long-time member of CAREA: Chinese American Real Estate Association, serving on the Board of Directors for 10 of his 20 years.

Interested in the mortgage process ever since his parents were looking to refinance, James stepped in to assist and didn’t look back. Prior to that, he did computer sales where he honed his sales and customer service skills. James is very logical and detail-oriented, focused and driven. He always gives 110 percent to his work and to helping his clients make important financial decisions.

A second generation immigrant from Taiwan, James came to the US when he was 12 and grew up in Flushing, Queens. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Queens College, and lived in Woodside for 10 years. James presently resides in Roslyn, NY. He speaks, reads and writes in Chinese and English, and is married with two teenage children. His favorite hobbies have included CrossFit, reading and traveling.
